Recently, faculty and students from the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials have devoted themselves to teaching‑research innovation and science‑technology practice. They have won prestigious awards in three high‑level national competitions, achieving double harvests in faculty teaching contests and student science‑innovation competitions.
Recently, the 4th National Teaching Competency Competition on Curriculum‑Based Ideological and Political Education for Chemical Engineering Teachers at Undergraduate Universities successfully concluded. As an authoritative national event for curriculum‑based ideological‑political education in chemical engineering education, the competition drew more than 150 backbone teachers from 64 universities nationwide. Professor Jia Yuanyuan from our School of Chemical Engineering and Materials won the National Special‑Class Award for her course Principles of Chemical Engineering. Professors Wang Yating and Li Jian received the National Second‑Class Award.
On April 25, the award ceremony of the 1st “Huazhuang Cup” National University Knowledge Competition on Cosmetic Safety Assessment was held at Beijing Technology and Business University. Focusing on cosmetic safety assessment, this high‑level specialized national competition gathers elite teams from universities across China. It serves as a platform for exchange and promotes learning through competition under the framework of industry‑education integration. Two teams from our School of Chemical Engineering and Materials participated and secured two Third‑Class Awards. Teachers Zhang Chenxi, Wang Yuanzhe and Wang Shaoyu were honored as “Excellent Instructors”, and the university was awarded the title of “Excellent Organizing Unit”.
At the National Finals of the 1st National University Innovation‑Transformation Competition (2026), the project Lithium‑Chain Intelligent Linkage: High‑Efficient Salt‑Lake Lithium‑Extraction System Based on Manganese‑Based Electrodes and LLZF Membranes, supervised by Professors Tian Guiying and Zhao Zijian from our school, won the Silver Award.
This project effectively addresses major industry pain points of conventional lithium‑extraction technologies, including high costs, low lithium recovery rates, excessive energy consumption and heavy environmental burdens. Featuring broad technical adaptability and prominent cost advantages, it boasts promising market value and industrialization prospects. The award demonstrates the strong scientific‑research innovation and industrial service capacity of faculty and students in our school.
For a long time, the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials has followed the university’s development strategy, continuously deepened industry‑education integration and the integration of science & education, and steadily advanced curriculum‑based ideological‑political development and teaching reform. The school has adopted multiple measures to cultivate high‑quality teachers and develop high‑quality courses. It has accumulated numerous national‑level and municipal‑level honors in teaching competitions, and owns municipal‑level model courses for curriculum‑based ideological‑political education as well as multiple high‑quality ideological‑political teaching cases. Meanwhile, proactively responding to the development demands of light‑industry sectors, the school breaks disciplinary barriers, sets up the micro‑major of Cosmetic Science and Technology, and builds a “Major + Industry” compound talent‑training system. Leveraging scientific research to fuel teaching, it effectively enhances students’ innovative practical capabilities.
These multiple national awards represent concrete outcomes of the school’s solid implementation of the university’s “Pioneer Initiative”, commitment to teaching innovation, and practical efforts in science‑innovation‑oriented talent cultivation. Going forward, the School of Chemical Engineering and Materials will continue to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Aligned with the goals of the university’s “3510” Strategic Project and guided by the “Pioneer Initiative”, it will further deepen teaching reform for curriculum‑based ideological‑political education, strengthen faculty development, improve the science‑innovation talent‑training system, and advance industry‑education integration. The school is committed to cultivating high‑caliber engineering talents with both professional competence and integrity, solid engineering literacy and strong national commitment. It will keep contributing strengths from chemical‑materials disciplines to building TUST into a comprehensive, distinctive, high‑level research‑oriented university and advancing high‑quality development of the light‑industry sector.
